Compare the same surface and territory
Record the store URL, country, date and whether the number is a summary rating, count or written-review list. Apple’s summary rating is territory-specific. A developer dashboard and a public storefront may show different slices of the data. Check the console record before treating a missing public item as proof that the original review was deleted or the person never submitted it.
Consider moderation without inventing certainty
Stores apply policies to ratings and reviews. Suspicious or inappropriate activity may be moderated, but an outside observer normally cannot prove why one item changed. Avoid confidently diagnosing a removal from timing alone. If you paid a vendor for public reviews, inspect the campaign and stop treating its replacement guarantee as evidence of compliance. The underlying incentive and deliverable remain relevant.
Escalate with a reproducible record
Collect the original text when available, the affected territory and dates, and what your console currently shows. Contact platform support through the appropriate channel if the discrepancy matters. Meanwhile monitor product complaints and normal usage. Do not trigger another review campaign to replace the missing number, and do not ask customers for confidential account screenshots simply to reconcile your marketing spreadsheet.
Working example
A useful record might say: ‘On Monday the US product page showed 34 ratings. On Tuesday it showed 33. The UK page showed 12 on both days. No summary reset was requested. Here are dated screenshots and the console view.’ This separates an observable change from a claim about its cause and gives support a narrower question to investigate.
Your next steps
- Compare the same territory and metric.
- Save dated public and console records.
- Keep moderation hypotheses labeled as hypotheses.
- Ask support with the smallest reproducible discrepancy.
