Check build access before distributing the link

Confirm the external testing group, available build and any beta-review status in App Store Connect. Open the invitation as a fresh participant rather than relying on an internal team account. Check device and operating-system requirements, supported countries and whether a login is needed. An invitation can look valid while a particular tester cannot reach the intended build or account state.

Write a brief invitation with a real commitment

State the task, approximate duration and how to send feedback. Explain whether screenshots are requested and what personal information must be removed. Check Apple's TestFlight compensation restriction before proposing incentives. Post only in communities that allow recruitment, and disclose your connection to the app. A clear request for ten minutes of onboarding observations is easier to evaluate than a vague appeal to support your launch.

Organize the reports and next build

Keep build and device fields consistent, acknowledge findings and ask focused follow-ups. Separate access problems from product defects. When you publish a fix, notify affected participants and identify the revised build. Do not ask everyone to repeat an entire long test when only one journey changed. Recruit fresh target users too, because returning testers now understand parts of the interface that newcomers may find confusing.

Working example

Invitation example: ‘We are testing an iPhone meal-planning app. Please try adding two recipes and making a shopping list in build 8. Allow about ten minutes and share where you hesitated, with device and iOS version. The beta link is below; no public review is required.’ This fictional example should be adapted to your actual build availability and task.

Your next steps

  • Verify external-group access with a fresh participant.
  • Specify devices, task and time commitment.
  • Respect community recruitment rules.
  • Identify the revised build in every follow-up.
